Prof. Dr. Şerife Gündüz

Prof. Dr. Şerife Gündüz was born on October 15, 1972, in Lefkoşa. She began her university education in the Biology department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 1990 and graduated in 1994. She completed her master's degree in the field of palynology in natural sciences. In 2005, she successfully completed her doctoral program in ecology at Çukurova University.

She embarked on her academic career in 1999, initially teaching courses in environmental education, ecology, botany, and biology at various universities. Currently, she holds the position of Director at the Environmental Education and Research Center at Final International University. In this capacity, she not only teaches at the doctoral, master's, and undergraduate levels but also manages projects related to environmental education.

Prof. Dr. Şerife Gündüz has taken on a leadership role in numerous international projects, often as a coordinator. Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to promoting "Environmental Awareness and Education" in Cyprus, leading various projects such as "Green Schools," "Women and the Environment," "Green Steps," "My Green Corner," "Waste Management," and "Ecological Areas."

In addition to her academic achievements, she has actively participated in the European Union TAIEX program, where she received specialized training in nature conservation. She has also served on the Steering Committee responsible for identifying Natura 2000 areas.

Having won several international scholarships related to the environment, Şerife Gündüz continuously improved her expertise. She has held positions as Environmental Consultant for the Ministry of Environment and Special Environmental Advisor to the Office of the President in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus at various times.

Moreover, she has coordinated the "Think Clean" Project of the Office of the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Prof. Dr. Şerife Gündüz has played a key role in the Environmental Committee of the Presidency of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as a co-chair.

As one of the founding members of the Biologists Association, she actively engages in civil society work. She collaborates with various organizations, including GIKAD (Turkish Cypriot Women Entrepreneurs Association) and GI-KA-KOOP.

In addition to her academic work, she provides consultancy services to companies on sustainability in organizations, helping them develop sustainability programs aligned with their strategies and culture.

Prof. Dr. Şerife Gündüz has numerous articles and books published in international and national journals, making significant contributions to the field of environmental sciences.
